Print Media awards 2007
The Western Australian Print Media Awards has a long history. The awards began in 1985 as the first Experimental Print Award hosted by the WA Printmakers Association. This Award became an annual event. In 1991 Alex Ardizzone donated a press as a prize for the inaugural Open Print Award. This award was for editioned prints only and was held annually at Tresillian Community Centre until 1994 and thereafter at Artshouse Gallery. Subsequently it moved to the Printmakers own Impressions Gallery (now demolished) at Roe St. Northbridge.

1997 saw the combination of these two awards as the Combined 7th Annual Open and 13th Annual Experimental Print Awards. This exhibition was held on the 18th May at both Impressions and Arthouse galleries. In 1998 it became the Annual Open Awards, then changed later to a single exhibition of awards called Prints WA.
The title of the Awards changed again in 2003, when it was called the Western Australian Print Media Awards for the first time. The exhibition was held 1st May 2003 at the Moores Gallery and
by this time included three award prizes including a student award. This year we again revisit the Moores Gallery for these 2008 Awards.
The Western Australian Print Media Awards exhibition is now a firmly established annual event for WA Printmakers.
