Printmakers are now in their new studio

Here 'tis
Over the last three days, PAWA equipment has been sorted, shifted and then put into the new room at Tresillian. Since the move from Roe St., in 2006 it has been piled high in Jerry and Aloma’s garage for 2 years and before that in James Bryans’ garage for 1 year. We were ever hopeful of finding a new space and with a couple of false starts at last we have.
Shelley, Ruby, Hilda, Krissie, Rosemary, Jean, and Aloma have had muchos discussions? Grunted, sworn (occasionally), unpacked and pulled that pile down to a manageable size and ruthlessly binned, (with some exceptions! there’s always the bower birds!) ready for the shift.
The extra muscle came along on Sunday for the final effort, Mark and son Thomas, Mike, Hilbrand, Jerry and my son Gavin. They worked like Trojans to get everything packed onto trailers and tied. Three large trailers, and many car boots filled to the brim convoyed down to Nedlands from Wanneroo.
At Tresillian we were greeted by Susanne and a new member Sarah who came along. More grunting … and more binning too when we discovered the room was not quite that big so a few local studio donations were made.

Priorities...
More coffee and biscuits and a few more discussions and at last we are installed in the new space.
I would like to thank everyone for their hard work, their good company, the laughs we had on the day, and their support for what was a difficult task. And with a very special HUGE thank you to our partners and families who worked so hard so that we can enjoy our art.
Where would we be without them? PAWA is lucky to have such a great bunch of people.
Aloma Berg

Saturday Get Together Printing Days
The first Saturday Get Together was a great success, lots of discussions about various aspects of printmaking, sharing knowledge and discussing current work and planned work, having coffee and morning tea, what a pleasure!
Sometimes when an artist works in isolation after perhaps leaving Uni or Tech or just coming into printmaking, it is always good to be with other likeminded people to share and get to know each other.
I showed a great way to do embossing and we all tried the method and produced some interesting images. Everyone agreed that we had a rewarding time and look forward to next week. Each of us brought ideas and shared.
If any member wishes to pop in for a chat and cup of coffee on a Saturday morning and see what is happening, and also meet your fellow members (August only) you will be made most welcome.

New Studio for PAWA
New Studio for PAWA
Good news! We have been given a firm date to move into a new larger studio on Monday, 31st August. Still within the Tresillian complex the bigger area will allow us to bring under one roof most of the studio equipment that has been in storage since our city location was demolished. Arrangements can now be made for shifting the equipment that Aloma Berg has looked after for us, for so long. Thank you Aloma.
The new studio will be available for member use as soon as we are settled in. Booking form is attached.
